| Dear Fellow Physicians, Opposition to Maintenance of Certification (MOC) continues to gain momentum as a top national medical news story. Nationwide, physicians from most specialties are voicing their views on the pitfalls and merits of Board Recertification and MOC. The grassroots effort has made major strides. The National Board of Physicians and Surgeons has become a valid and sustainable board to maintain certification. Political action has made an impact as well as multiple states have drafted resolutions and legislation in opposition to MOC and Maintenance of Licensure (MOL). And the MOC story has gone mainstream with four articles in Newsweek . Though leaders of the ABIM and other Boards have contacted us to discuss reforming the MOC process, all have conveyed unwillingness to negotiate or compromise, supporting their position with irrelevant propaganda.
